Associate Professor Norzanah Rosmin
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia
Dr. Norzanah Rosmin is an Associate Professor at Centre of Electrical Energy Systems (CEES), Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia. She obtained her B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering in 1999, M.Eng in Electrical Engineering in 2002 and PhD in Renewable Energy in 2015 from Loughborough University, United Kingdom. She has 23 years of experience in teaching electrical engineering courses and supervision of students projects and also research. She is an expert in Renewable Energy (RE) areas such as wind and solar energy control system, RE system and integration, smart/microgrid system simulation, energy efficiency, and also electrical energy audit and management system. She was invited to share her expertise through research, workshop, and tutorials both locally and internationally. Her vast knowledge in this area has also led to publications in books, journals and conference proceedings. She is also involved as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) for ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (AEMAS) and also Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) certified by Malaysian Energy Commission. She has the quality and the ability to become an excellent academician and innovators not only in the research area, teaching activities, and also the community projects. Her involvement in community projects are such as the knowledge transfer on the smarter agricultural-based technology system (such as freshwater lobsters’ cultivation, hydroponics and fertigation plantations) by implementing renewable energy and Internet-of-things (IoT) application to diversify economic activities in rural/B40 areas. This is integral to help the local communities by improving their incomes, and also to sustain long-term growth. She also got numbers of awards for the innovation projects based on her expertise.
Associate Professor Nor Asiah Muhamad
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Brunei
With millions of homes and businesses relying on the National Grid, engineering research in high voltage electrical energy systems is very important in protecting from surges, preventing blackouts, and ensuring safety and efficiency from the grid across. her research interest lies in detecting incipient faults for condition monitoring of electrical power equipment as well as at the transmission system to ensure continuous supply from generation to the end-user. Besides that, she also doing research to find and do the improvement of new insulation material developed for high voltage equipment applications. Her interest in this area had gone deeper and the research is continued through her research students and grants that she managed to obtain. Below is the list of the grants that she manage to obtain as Principle Investigator:i. International grant: 1, ii. National grants: 4 iii. Contract Research with industry: 2 iii. Universiti internal Grant: 6. Now, besides the power transformer as the major equipment being studied, her research had extended to other equipment in power system industries. The other equipment that she have started to study are high voltage cables, pole insulators, and switchgear. As the insulating system is the main approach that she normally used in her research, this had open the door for her to explore new research topics that are in the area of insulating material for high voltage application development, testing, and improvement. Besides research in high voltage engineering, her interest in doing research in the area of energy efficiency on building and energy sources management is gained. This interest grew when she started teaching energy resources planning and efficiency subjects for the master’s degree course. As for now, most of her master by course students are doing energy efficiency and green index building research for their dissertation. The summary of her publication from 2011 until today is as below: i. Research books: 2 books ii. Indexed journal as the main/corresponding author: 36 papers iii. Non-indexed journal as the main/corresponding author: 4 papers iv. Indexed journal as a co-author: 30 papers v. Non indexed journal as a co-author: 8 papers vi. Chapter in research book (tier 1): 12 chapters vii. Conference proceeding: 74 papers.
